Arizona Cactus Ranch, SA Restoration Project

Hello All, Do you know the old cactus farm (Arizona Cactus Ranch) on Port Wakefield Road near Windsor, South Australia?? This SA icon was in the hearts of many people for decades until the 1990s. Then it slowly disappeared from the community. We have purchased this beautiful piece of land recently. But, after our purchase, we came to know its forgotten story and how significant it was in Adelaide's history. Also, hundreds of people have shared their childhood memories around the Ranch. These fascinated stories inspired us to restore it to its formal glory and pass it to future generations.

We started restoring this place, and soon I realised, that bringing life back to the Ranch from its extinction is a gigantic task. The first very important thing is teaming up with the right people who have love and passion for cactus. After that, a number of other factors are also involved in it. Cleaning, Security, re-connecting electricity and water, Restoring the toilet block and Manger's house, fencing, plantation, insurance and council approval, Council approval again involved with Draftsman, Planning consultation, Council Planning application, wastewater engineer reports, private certification, CITB levy and energy efficiency reports are some from many. Slowly, I am realising how hard to bring this place to life with limited resources. After dealing with these issues, I started thinking this could be one of the reasons so many Australian icons have disappeared from the community in the blink of an eye.

As funding opportunities from the government have been frozen by the recent new government transition period and it is very hard to go ahead without your kind donations. So we are requesting you please donate some donations towards Arizona Cactus Ranch restoration and allow us to bring this beautiful place back to life.
