Help me become a scientist

My name is Jack and I am 21 years old.

I am about to complete an undergraduate degree and would love to be able to pursue my dream of undertaking a Masters course in Biochemistry in the Netherlands. However, due to Brexit, it is highly likely that no funding for masters is available for British students in the Netherlands, and tuition fees will increase from 2000 euros up to 18000 euros per year, for two years. I have tried looking for alternative funding but have had no success. My family is in no financial position to give me any assistance at all, and I have had to rely on additional modest grants from my university to make ends meet, as well as picking up odd jobs here and there for extra income. I try to live as frugally as possible so that any funding I am fortunate enough to receive is not wasted. If I can afford the tuition fees of the Netherlands, I plan on obtaining a part time job there so I can manage living costs.

Despite the financial stress and the time spent trying to earn money, I have achieved good grades throughout my education thus far, and I am on track to graduate with a first class degree this year. Unfortunately, a bachelors degree is not sufficient to pursue a career in research.

For my secondary education I was fortunate enough to achieve a 98% scholarship and bursary to a private school, without which I would never have been able to go. Going to that school made me the person I am today, and I am determined to make the most of the opportunities that education gave me.
At A-Level, I received an award by my school for 'Best Lower Sixth Biologist', and another for 'Best Upper Sixth Scientist', which helped me in my applications to the University of Bath, where I currently study Biochemistry. To help prepare me for my masters I took a year long placement at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, where I undertook my own research project as part of my supervisors PhD project, which should soon be published in an academic journal.

Receiving a good education means everything to me and would allow me to pursue my chosen career of going into academic research. My ultimate goal is to help others as much as possible. I aim to make a real contribution to society by researching infectious diseases, in the hope that more understanding can allow myself and others to create treatments for illnesses, thereby improving the lives of everyone. I am extremely grateful for all of the financial support I receive, so I aim to pay it all forward as soon as I am in the position to do so.

Any and all support would be truly wonderful.

Thank you.
