If you are someone like me who would like to take an active part in change, but does not know how they can make a difference please take the time to learn about this cause.

My friend Thomas Stenner was mulling over the ways to make a positive impact on the community. One of the ways that stood out to him was purchasing children’s books that feature people of color as the protagonists and heroes. Too often in classrooms, we read history books and watch movies that feature predominantly white characters. I hope through the generosity of everybody on this GoFundMe we can distribute books featuring people of color as the main characters to many different public schools around the Long Island area no matter the racial make-up of the classroom. It is my hope that these books will not only be used in February during Black History Month but instead year-round because it is an everyday issue. Kids of every race need to know American history and be exposed to people of different races, religions, and ethnicity.
My friends from Indiana University, Thomas Stenner and Brian Kipkulei, and I will be starting a website soon that will display our progress. Hopefully, with enough traction it can be interactive and visitors can vote on the books they feel we should be sharing and add give recommendations regarding minority authors. The three of us will be covering school districts in New York, Indiana, and Illinois.
If you are interested in your specific elementary school getting some of these books please reach out to me using the contact button under "Organizer" . The goal is to collect donations and start purchasing the books. Any and all donations are accepted and very much appreciated!
