My son Christian was the youngest of my four children. Christian was a good boy, he tried as hard as he could to be a good son, & a good Dad to his two young boys, & his 7 year old stepdaughter, Ameriah. Now these 3 children will grow up without their Father. Christian Jr is a sweet, kind 2 year old boy, & Amari is his little baby brother, & hes one year old. Christian loved his boys, & his stepdaughter & was devoted to being a good Dad.
On April 9th 2017, Christian was making his way over to his Dad's house for a visit, & stopped by the local store to get his Dad a pack of cigarettes. When he came out of the store there was a young man there who had words for Christian, & started shooting at him in broad daylight. It was that very day that my son was murdered.
I know this happens to the sons of many throughout the nation but in our case it could have been avoided if the State of NJ would have held his killer in jail. A few days before my sons murder his killer was released on a new "bail reform" program that the State of NJ implemented to "help the poor"! The new system judged my sons killer to be a "low risk" and put him right back in the street after multiple similar arrest in his past.
I want justice for my son, & the sons of so many Moms throughout the USA. Bail Reform is not a way of helping our communities, it is killing our communities. We are living in fear everyday. Under the old bail system someone in my sons killers family would have had to put up bail for him, or they might have decided that enough was enough & kept him in the jail to teach him a well deserved lesson. But thats not what happened, the computer just let him out, & now my son is gone!
I need as much help as I can now to help raise these kids.
As a Mother, I WILL be heard, & I will not stop until everyone knows the dangers of bail reform.
