Biscuits New Beginning

Cue the Sarah McLachlan music. My best friend Kirsty Romero and I found this sweet baby (whom we are calling “Biscuit”) on Sunday September 23rd on our way home from work. We were driving home and found this sweet pitbull walking down the side of the road so we deciding to stop and scoop her up. It took some patience, trust, and a more than a few Cheez-It’s to get her to accept some help. She never barked, growled, or showed any signs of aggression towards us at all. Which surprised us considering the terrible condition we found her in. We brought her home, cleaned her up, and took her to the vet. She had the most severe infestation of fleas I have ever seen, and she was covered in scabs and blood. She seemed to have had several litters of puppies as well. During her vet visit, we found out she tested positive heart worms. Her teeth looked as though they had been filed down and she has scabs and scars all over her body. She seemed to have trouble using the restroom and was overall in terrible health. Our vet believes she could very well have been involved with some pretty terrible people, more than likely had a terrible life of producing litter after litter of pups without ever receiving the care she needed. She was severely underweight and didn’t seem interested in anything but being curled up in a corner.  With the state we found her in, trying to treat these heart worms could very well be deadly. In order to even attempt the heart worm treatment, she has to be in better shape than we found her. We have started her on antibiotics, an eye gel for her eye infection, and flea and tick medication. We also have her on heartworm prevention medication to help kill off what we can without putting too much stress on her already fragile body, as well as an antibiotic for the skin infection caused by the insane amount of fleas. She’s absolutely in pitiful shape and we cannot stand the thought of giving up on her. With that being said, we did find her on the streets and are not necessarily prepared with all of the financial support this sweet girl needs. Kirsty has been caring for Biscuit and has been spending all of her extra money on this sweet girl and I know she isn’t one to ask for help, but I believe this is a special cause. Biscuit is honestly one of the most well-behaved, loving and adorable dogs I’ve ever come to know. And I think she deserves a way better life than the one she’s known. We are asking for help for her heartworm treatment as well as her vet visit costs, medication costs, and of course a little 5-star treatment - bed, toys, and treats. We can start the treatment in a few months, as soon as her other infections are treated and she puts on a little weight. If anyone knows of a rescue or treatment facility that can help, please notify us. She is extremely good with all people (even with the vet poking her she had no reaction) and with other dogs/cats she has had nothing but a positive reaction. Kirsty has been keeping her at her home as of now, and she has been keeping a very close eye on Biscuit. We hope we can fix this sweet girl up and find her an amazing home with a family that can give her a life she could only dream of. We appreciate any support, and will keep everyone updated on her progress! Thank you so much!
