Couple In Need: Cancer & Paralyzed

This couple, Gemma and Steve Beld have helped other cancer fundraisers for the past several years. Gemma is Paralyzed and Steve has Stage 4 Brain Cancer.  They have loved and supported one another for many years.  Gemma has helped organize and volunteer for Pink The Rink for the past several years helping raise money for Breast Cancer. They are now in a time of need. 

   The  toughest time of their lives right now started about a year ago when Gemma's husband Steve was diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer and is now at stage 4.  It is rapidly taking over his body and mind.  His wife Gemma, was his sole caretaker--  but on September 7th fell and had to be flown by helicopter from one hospital to Harborview.  She now is paralyzed and stuck in the hospital ICU.  

    Steve now is at the point where he needs someone to care for him 24/7 or needs hospice.  Even if their insurance covers some, they will still be tens of thousands in debt.  The biggest goal at the moment is to get Steve the care he needs.  His wish and request is to pass in their home with family by his side.

    They love and need each other so much but cannot be together right now.  Gemma is fighting for recovery with daily rehab so she can get back home to him.  Gemma is also still in the ICU.  Their bills together will be too overwhelming.  Please help this couple fight to be together again when they need it most!  They have hearts of gold and have given the shirts off their back for others.  Our goal is somewhere around $40,000-50,000, considering the emergency helicopter flight, emergency spinal surgery, Steve’s brain surgery and MRIs for both, ICU stay that is over two weeks, and now a round-the-clock nurse for Steve.  

Please help us help them.  This couple truly does not deserve the hand they have been dealt. It is a True Tragic Love Story.  Let's fight to get these two back together again!
