RCC's 'A House Divided'

What is the Project?
The project is one of our organization's large scale productions that we do throughout the year. Our crew consists of all college students in order to further our experience and knowledge of real film sets.

Who are we?
We are Rough Cut Collective, a student film organization at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. We are an organization that focuses solely on bettering the skills and experiences of student filmmakers or anybody interested in filmmaking at the University. Rough Cut Collective holds many different workshops throughout the year that focus on particular skillsets that would benefit the students in their future productions. We also hold challenge projects bi-weekly where students can exercise their creativity in small, no-budget, narrative filmmaking. Most importantly, Rough Cut Collective hosts six large productions where we come together as a club and focus on making a higher grade grade film to teach the students all the professional and team building skills they can then carry out into the real world.

The Story
The story is set a year after the Civil War ends and follows what happens when a Confederate soldier meets a Union soldier. The film focuses on impurity, hypocrisy, isolation, and past demons. This was a very tumultuous time in American history and has many parallels to todays world.

Join Our Production Effort!
We need your help to bring our script from page to screen. We would like to rent professional grade equipment not only to make our film look good, but to teach the members of our organization professional techniques that can carry into the real world.

Where Will the Money Go?
The money will go toward period authentic costumes and props, special effects makeup, era specific set decoration, professional-grade equipment, transportation for our actors and crew, and food for our crew. Our goal is to obtain an authentic Civil War era village. We have our sights set on a location in Wilmington Ohio called Caesar Creek Pioneer Village. It is a collection of village houses built in the 1800s and they have been up-kept and preserved by the non-profit village organizers. We are trying to get access to a beautiful white house in the back of the village to shoot our film in.
