Mission Trip to Sierra Leone

Donation protected
Early this November, I will be boarding a flight, departing from Toronto, Canada. My final destination will be Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa. I'm excited to be able to join a team of about 15 people from R U Ready Ministries  who are going to Sierra Leone to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our goal will be twofold; 1) Evangelism within the city of Freetown. 2) The building up of the local body of Christ through teaching, preaching, and other forms of discipleship.
The team will be working specifically with Grace Center Bible Church in Freetown. Pastor Michael Turray, who leads that local congregation, is a Sierra Leonian national who serves faithfully as a minister of the Word. Incidentally, he is also an old family friend. We have labored together in the gospel before and I am delighted to have the opportunity to do so once again. Michael is in a unique position there in Freetown as he is one of the few evangelical pastors who has a disdain for the prosperity gospel and who has the courage to preach the true gospel in, what can at times be, an hostile environment. Because of his long service in Freetown, Michael has many connections in the city and with many in the government and military. We will be working to serve his church in preaching and in teaching.
We will also be taking part in an evangelistic campaign with Grace Center Bible Church. In our 11 days in country we will travel to 15 different high schools to preach the gospel. In order to do this we have set up assembly shows in which we will play music and do dramas for the students and interact with them in different ways. At the end of each of these shows, one of three preachers (myself included) will have the opportunity to preach the gospel (to about 1,000 students at each school). This is an awesome opportunity because most of these students will be Muslims, never having heard the truth about Jesus before. The few students who might call themselves Christians will largely be a part of the prosperity gospel movement.
Sierra Leone is a country that is 78% Sunni Muslim and about 20% Christian. The country has seen much strife in the past 50 years, including brutal civil wars, military coups, and economic depression. However, since the last civil war ended in 2002, the country has remained relatively stable. Freetown is the capitol of Sierra Leone and has a population of about 1 million people.
As a Christian, I am to be about the work of the Father. For that reason, I consider it a great blessing to be able to engage in the work of the kingdom of His Son, preaching the Word and fulfilling the great commission. I ask that you would help me in this endeavor. My immediate need is raising the funds necessary to be able to travel to Sierra Leone and to pay for food, lodging and other necessities while I am there. $2400 is my goal to reach in the next two months.
You can also help me in committing to pray for me and the rest of the team as we work hard in Sierra Leone.
Any support you can give would be greatly appreciated, by myself, by the team at R U Ready Ministries, and by Grace Center Bible Church, Freetown, Sierra Leone.
