Hi Friends and Family!

This is my first time forming a fundraiser, for a city I am totally unknown to. I am heading to Port Aransas, located in Mustang Island, on the Texas coast for 5 weeks in November of 2017 to dedicate my time as a volunteer. The mission is to provide immediate, effective and sustainable support as well as be extremely hands-on with restoring the communities and families impacted to wholeness. With your help, I'll be able to directly assist school districts, elderly facilities and everyone in between.  

Hurricane Harvey has caused unprecedented and catastrophic flooding throughout various areas of the region and the real toll of lives lost, communities hurting, homes and businesses destroyed are just beginning to unfold. The category 4 hurricane left 250,000 people without power in this area, damaged 203,000 homes of which 12,700 were destroyed. There were 507,000 people who registered for assistance with FEMA. 

While in Texas, the initial focus will be on debris removal, tree removal, and mucking and gutting of homes. I'll be joined by a non-profit organization called "All Hands Volunteers". I chose this organization for its credibility. Since 2005, it has dedicated to restoring hope for people impacted by natural disasters all over the world.  While there are almost always multiple communities heavily impacted by a natural disaster, the bulk of the relief efforts are usually focused in limited areas –often driven by media coverage. All Hands Volunteers, however, is deeply committed to seeking out the most under-served communities which are usually outside of the public eye. As a result, they are often the only organization serving in those communities where damage is as great as–or greater than–more publicized locations.

I have always aspired to be involved in such an experience and I strongly believe in the untapped power of an individual when driven by a desire to make a difference!! The funds raised will be used to offset personal expenses during the trip as well as put towards airfare and program supplies (ie. work attire/boots/vaccinations/air mattress). *ANY AND ALL REMAINING FUNDS WILL BE PUT INTO THE MISSION RELIEF PROJECT*
