Computers for underprivileged kids

We need your help to raise $6,000 to buy 20 computers, at $300 each, to enhance the education of poor and underprivileged students in Kolkata, India. These computers will be used to expose hundreds of students to the endless information and ideas of the internet in a structured yet flexible way. We are promoting their computer literacy, typing abilities, Mathematics, Science, Conversational English, and coding so that marginalized children may acquire jobs or higher education and change the trajectory of their communities.
Background
Millions of students in India and across the world travel long distances to get to school. While early enrollment in schools in low-income and underprivileged areas are high, income disparity, lack of resources and poor job outlook affects the ability of students to continue in school.
In India enrollment rates after Primary School drops by half. This phenomenon disproportionately affects low-income students.
Our Approach
Rayse Academy aims to combat this trend by teaching practical, applicable and employable skills to students who otherwise lack such opportunities. There are four key aspects as to how this is accomplished:
1. We identify and partner with schools in underprivileged areas to use their existing infrastructure;
2. We provide web-enabled computers that are provisioned in Rayse Academy classrooms;
3. We harness the capabilities of existing online education platforms such as Khan Academy, Code.org, NoRedInk, and others to structure our core curriculum; and
4. We help channel the innate curiosity, adaptiveness, and intelligence of children to learn essential computer based skills as well as supplement their school based education. Students learn at their own self taught pace.
The impact of this approach has already proven dramatic at our existing Academy running in India. Students, coaches and parents alike have nothing but praises for the opportunities that Rayse is providing.

Rayse does not replace traditional school, but integrates into school curricula as an educational supplement specifically geared towards building employable skills.
Few of these students would have access to such learning environment without Rayse. Our mission is to persist in this effort, to spread these Academies to global communities needing the most help, to combat opportunity and resource disparity, and to enhance education worldwide.
