I am an active guy. I love to walk, along the Erie Canal, National Parks and Historic Sites. I cut and chop wood for heat.
Now I am in a rehab center after 13 days in a hospital.
I'm not sure what caused it, I'd over walked on the first nice day of spring and felt a little sore in the groin area. I slipped and fell, I got a sore on my knee packing for a move. But on May 5th after working my first job and then my second job the pain in my hip got worse, much worse. I could barely walk. I could drive no problem but I couldn't lift up my left leg. Ibuprofen and rest that Saturday and no improvement. I went to my doctor, who after examining me said, you need to go to the emergency room. I said I couldn't go that I didn't have medical Insurance. I got in my car and thought about it. Somehow this felt serious.
I drove to the emergency room and a few steps from my car someone saw my plight and met me with a wheelchair.
Sepsis they told me. Infection throughout my body.
The next days are a nightmare of pain.
But I'm on the mend!
New - I am now walking again!! My leg just decided it remembered. Wasn't consistent at first but I can walk! Using a cane and limping. Dancing soon?
Now other worries. I'm driving a school bus since last fall. I love it. But I've not worked there long enough for any benefits. My other job is a motor coach operator for Yankee Trails on the weekends. But I'm new with them, too. No work, no pay. Though, they assured me that there's plenty of work for me when I can.
I have rent, car payment, insurance, medical costs, and a family to support including a 14 year old daughter. I'm not good at asking for help. I'd rather help others.
Please help me get back on my feet.
