Rayne's Medical Funds

Donation protected
For those of you that know Cynthia, you know how much she loves what she does, and how much she  loves your pets.  In some cases, she has gotten very attached throughout their rehabilitation.   This is the time where all of those that can give back to her can do so.  Her sweet Golden Retriever, Rayne, has been diagnosed with Lymphoma.  Cynthia plans to do all that she can to help Rayne get through this.

Rayne's Story....

Before I tell this story I would like to say thank you to all of my wonderful friends/coworkers. The fact that they thought of helping me in this manner with my wonderful baby girl is beyond words; no words that can express how appreciative and thankful I am.  I was asked to give a little bit of the story of my life with Rayne, but once I got started it led me to what you see here.

Rayne was given to me by a boyfriend as a late Christmas present when she was 12 weeks old. Our life started out in Burbank, California.  She and I have been through so very much in life. It has been 11 1/2 years, as Rayne, will be 12 on October 30.  She told us her name when my boyfriend and I said, “She just keeps raining on everything”; at that point she just ran over to us. That’s how she chose name, but we changed the spelling as you can see. It is as unique as she is.

This wonderful girl has brought me so much joy, taught me so much, and she and Chica give me purpose in life. She didn't do the typical things that Golden's do as puppies; no chewing up papers, going after tissue or the toilet paper rolls. When I was teaching her “Come”, (boy was that a chore!), she always ran to her friends.  There are so many dogs and people along the block where we lived that, thank God it wasn't that hard to catch her. It was an ordeal to say the least. When we went to puppy class I learned that the use of a different word can act as a trigger to help get them to do what you want. Now, she comes when called, unless she thinks it might not be good for her. For instance, this past week I needed to weigh her, that's all. She sat there and looked at me like, “I don't think so!” Without her in my life I wouldn't be the person I am today.

She has traveled across the country with me 4 times and helped me get through so much. There was the break-up with that boyfriend, marriage and divorce, 2 years of going through testing to make sure I didn’t have breast cancer, diagnosis for high blood pressure.  They got me through all the crying and discouraged feelings that I couldn't take anymore.  Together they showed me I could.

She and her sister helped me start over here. We explored this new city and a new path in life and just made the most of it. Two years later the mass has never grown to become breast cancer and through walking more, being much more active, my blood pressure has come down. Through all that she was there, always making me smile, giving me a reason to laugh. These two amazing girls are my only family here, and they bring joy and a smile to me and to other people. I have to say sometimes that is the best part of sharing life with them; they are silly, goofy, and pushy for attention and demonstrations of love.

With this next path in life, I'm going to fight and do all I can for her and for her sister. I owe them the very best - they deserve it. I think on some level I kind of knew this was coming, but when I received Rayne’s diagnosis, I lost it; I cried for days and I still cry a lot. I have been blessed to have this wonderful furry kid in my life. She makes me do a much better job at what I am very thankful I get to do each and every day. It breaks my heart to know she has cancer, but with all the support and help from the wonderful doctors and my friends I know that we will get through it.

I will end with this, since I could go on and on, writing pages upon pages about my life and how fortunate I have been to be with her. Thank you for taking your time to read this!! I wish everyone nothing but the very best. Please give kisses and hugs to your furry kids and if you don't have one Rayne would be more than happy to give you a hug and a kiss....
