Ray DeVito Hit & Run Accident

Ray DeVito, one of my best friends, was recently the victim of a hit and run; please read on for details.

On March 15th, our fellow comic and good friend, Ray, was hit by a semi-truck while driving on I-80. Ray suffered a collapsed lung, broken rib, spine fracture, and a concussion. Ray was hospitalized for three days and is expected to make a full recovery.

Because the truck driver fled the scene of the accident and wasn't found by police, there is no additional recourse to assist Ray with his burgeoning medical expenses. Although Ray has both medical and car insurance, the out of pocket expenses for his ambulance transport, hospital stay, and medical tests are still so high that the amount he owes is piling up rather quickly. 

For those of you that don't know intimately the life of stand-up comics called to do this work, it's often fraught with low paying gigs and totally ew "comedy condos." As if comedy weren't already a challenge, Ray is now facing mounting bills, and staying off stage for a few weeks while he recovers.

Even though I want to raise a bajillion dollars for Ray in his time of need, our goal right now is $10k so our friend can at least be rest assured he will stay out of debtor's prison, and will be able to eat. I don't think there's still a physical debtor's prison, but you get it.
