First off we’d like to thank you for giving us your time and for reading this. I apologize for the length of it all. On the afternoon of June 23rd my brother in law, along with my three nephews, were on highway 97 heading from LaPine to Bend to pick up my sister to begin their trip back to Portland to spend time with family and friends and get a much needed break. A driver coming from Bend fell asleep at the wheel and hit their van head on at 70Mph. The accident resulted in serious internal injuries for  Landen, 8, my oldest nephew. In an effort to save his younger brothers Landen took quite a hit, external and internal bleeding l, a broken femur and several surgeries. The effort worked however and. he is a hero to Liam(4) and Lincoln (19 months) possibly, and most likely saving their lives. Philip my brother in law took the brute force of he impact and as a result was life flighted to the hospital, both of his legs are broke, his knee cap is gone and his right side from hip to toe has been reconstructed And he has now had 2 surgeries, not to mention a series of other injuries (such as concussions, bruising, and stitches) While everyone is said to make a full recovery, full being a relative term here, along road of recovery and rehabilitation awaits them.
It pains me to watch Philip force himself to get up with casts on both legs and drag himself into his Landens hospital room to make sure they he is alright. He is honestly one of the most dedicated and strongest men and fathers I know and many would agree, including the paramedics on scene and first responders in which he told to forget about him grab my boys as he ripped his leg out from under where it was lodged behind the brake pedal breaking his foot in the process to try and help save the kids. It’s equally as hard for me to listen to my sister in law put on a brave face when I know she’s hurting inside. They are both stressed beyond belief due to the accident, not being able to work and with thought s of how they will financially be able to recover and continue to give their kids the best life possible. I know that they would never want to burden anyone with their concerns so it falls to me to reach out for help.
As a family we are doing everything we can to make sure that they have all their needs met but we can only do so much… so in this time of need we’re reaching out any one willing or able to lend a helping hand. We know that you all have your own worries, needs, and stresses in life but we have exhausted our other options. Whether you can spare $5 or whether you can spare $25 anything and everything helps. If you cannot help financially please just say a prayer and maybe share this cause. We can’t thank you enough for reading this and being there for our family as we struggle to put our lives back together and heal physically and emotionally after this tragic accident.
