In the Fight for his Life
After Devastating Glioblastoma Diagnosis

Ray Bunting and his wife, Robin recently began their own business and started selling Real Estate with The Emma Payne Group at Delmarva Resorts Realty.  Just prior to this Ray and Robin had been Sales Managers for local homebuilders, Ray with LC Homes at Sterling Crossing, the Grande at Canal Pointe – Townhomes and Condominiums and Rehoboth Crossing.  Robin was with Country Life Homes at Woods Cove in Rehoboth and Hearthstone Manor in Milford.

In late May 2017, Ray collapsed at work, hit his head in the fall and was rushed to Beebe Hospital.  After developing pneumonia, he spent 8 agonizing days on a ventilator.  He recovered slowly this summer.

On July 28th, Ray collapsed at home where he was rushed to Beebe.  The Head of Neurology at Beebe after reviewing his MRI, immediately had Ray transported to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.  There Ray was diagnosed with a brain tumor – a Glioblastoma.  Glioblastoma is what John McCain was recently diagnosed with, as well as, former Vice-President Joe Biden’s son Beau, who passed away in May of 2015.

From Wikipedia
Glioblastoma, also known as glioblastoma multiforme(GBM), is the most aggressive cancer that begins within the brain. Despite maximum treatment, the cancer usually recurs.[3] The most common length of survival following diagnosis is 12 to 15 months.  Without treatment, survival is typically three months.

This very cruel diagnosis, has changed life forever for Ray, his wife and their family.  Having been a two-time cancer survivor, once with colon cancer in 2006 and skin cancer in 2010, this diagnosis is different. There is no way to know what to expect or really how to prepare for the future other than to pray for the best and prepare for the worst.  This family needs YOUR help.

Several fundraising campaigns are being developed to assist Ray in his journey, pay for expenses associated with treatment and being out of work for many months and to allow Robin to be by his side during his treatment.  Treatment can be debilitating and doesn’t bring with it a hopeful diagnosis.  The efforts made are to sustain life and quality of life, in the hope for a cure.

Emma Payne, broker at Delmarva Resorts Realty has rallied her staff in support of Ray and Robin, allowing them to continue to list and sell properties locally - literally providing the footwork from her office staff, assistants and other agents.  The goal being to allow Robin, to be able to maintain some income while Ray goes through radiation and chemotherapy for six weeks, then future treatment plans will be determined.  Please request prayer at your churches.

Ray and Robin have touched many lives in their Resort Real Estate Career, having worked in Ocean City, MD, St. Maarten, Hilton Head, SC, and Daytona/Ormond Beach, FL.  They moved back to be closer to Ray’s roots in Delaware where Ray was born at Beebe Hospital and raised in Millsboro, Delaware.  They recently moved their church membership back to Ray’s home church, Grace United Methodist in Millsboro.  Ray’s father was Alvah Bunting, who died in a car accident in 1949 on Ray’s second birthday.  His mother was Bertha Mae Lingo who died of colorectal cancer in 1994.  Ray has two daughters and five grandchildren.  Their home address is:  34930 Warrington Road, Rehoboth Beach, De 19971.
