Last year, one of Tampa, Florida's most dedicated Firefighters & Fire Investigator, Ray Alcover was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme Stage 4 brain cancer. After spending the past year battling with the disease and undergoing brain surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, last month, Ray suffered several seizures, leaving him unable to speak, stand, or walk on his own. Unfortunately, the tumor has returned more aggressively than ever, forcing his loving wife to take unpaid time-off from work, as his main caretaker, and for an undetermined length of time.

As most of you already know, when our loved one's suffer from this type of debilating disease, medical expenses and treatments mount quickly. For those of us who know Ray, there is absolutely no one who he'd rather have by his side during this time, than his wife, Sonia. Those of us who know Ray, also know that like many firefighters, by nature, he would never ask for help---for that reason, we, his friends and family have taken it upon ourselves to ask for him through this gofundme.com initiative. We are asking for your help---for Ray.

Ray Alcover has selflessly served the Tampa Bay community for over 20 years as a firefighter and investigator--he's a true hero and committed public servant. Hundreds of friends have come forward to express their concern and ask what they can do to help, with many expressing feelings of helplessness. The truth is, there is a way folks can help and that's by way of monetary donations. Once released from rehabilitation, Ray is going to require ongoing round-the-clock care---your donations, no matter how big or small, will make a difference in allowing his family to maintain as his primary caretakers.
