Hello and welcome. We are the Rathdrum Men's Shed.

Rathdrum is a small village in the hills of the Wicklow mountains Co. Wicklow Ireland.

Our Shed started up in late 2023 with just over a dozen members, we have been diligently setting up our governance and structure as well as madly fund raising.

Our Shed comprises of a verity of men with diverse skills. We meet 3 times a week to undertake shedly duties but most importantly, enjoy each other’s company.

The shed provides an avenue for us to leave our homes and be part of something beyond own encapsulation. The members have a great bond and a safe environment to express themselves, to discuss men's health, amongst many other things, without fear of judgment. Belong to a community, which is well documented to benefit mental health, and to hear stories of others and their journeys through the ebbing of time.

Our Shed has a diverse group of men with a large range of skills from managerial to labouring, designing to marketing and more, ex-service men, local councillors, business owners to the workers. We want to continue to utilise our skills and share with new members the lessons we have acquired along the way.

We are open to any man of any age who wants to join and add their experiences to our group. Tolerance acceptance and inclusiveness the foundation principles of our shed, as well as enjoyment not endurance

Our Mission Statement;

Rathdrum Men’s Shed is a community-based organisation that concentrates on men’s health and wellbeing, reducing loneliness and isolation and providing a friendly environment for men of all ages to meet, socialise, find meaning and purpose and share their skills and experiences.

As yet we do not have a shed to call our own, and graciously accept the arrangement we have to utilise the local parochial house as an interim venue.

We are actively seeking a location to place our shed, once we are funded, and our men in the shed are skilled enough to erect, fit out, insulate and heat our shed once we get going.

After an extensive exploration of our local area, we have been unable to find a suitable premises, so build one we must.

Unfortunately for us this is the expensive rout.

It’s to this end that we ask for your kind donation to assist us in raising €25,000.

This money is for the initial purchase of a prefabricated shed, site works, regulatory compliance, fitout, and security fencing.

This is a momentous task but like any great building it is made of lots of smaller parts.

Any amount donated will help us to reach our goal.
