GREEN PARTY TO FACE RACE DISCRIMINATION TRIAL

Donation protected
AFTER YEARS OF LOYAL SERVICE, I am sad to announce I am suing the Green Party for Race Discrimination and Victimisation.

I am Green Party's  Equality and Diversity Coordinator and have launched this appeal for help towards my legal costs thus far and for the upcoming  hearing scheduled for September 24/25th.   Case No: 2200103/2020

Myself and my  lawyer parted ways last week after I refused to accept a non-liability /'gagging' order as part of a proposed Green Party settlement. They want to remove my right to speak about my experiences, which is ironic as the Greens also like to pride themselves as the party that supports whistle-blowers...as long as the whistle blowing is outside! My case is about seeking justice from a political  party that should know better.

After several years of micro racism, my situation came to a head in 2019 when I applied for a Campaign Manager position on the (Covid suspended) 2020 GLA London Elections team. The post was within my skillset as I had previously ran successful election campaigns. (FYI My team achieved the best Green result of the 2016 GLA elections and created thousands of new Green voters in London.)

However, I was shocked to learn my anonymised application form  had actually been identified and not shortlisted. I suspected there were factors involved other than my campaigning ability when deciding not to interview me .

The Green Party and their lawyers are hoping that I am unable to continue with the case (without a lawyer) and accept their terms- meaning discrimination is again swept under the carpet. Furthermore, for raising the issue of discrimination I suffered victimisation  which appears to break the Green Party's Code Of Conduct and the 2010 Equalities Act. I raised another complaint

Unfortunately, my lawyer has left me with a bill for several thousand pounds and so far, I have spent my own money on legal fees,  but am now virtually broke... having principle comes at a price!

Your donation will mean that I can get a replacement lawyer to take the case to tribunal next month. The Green Party can then be asked to explain how their shortlisting procedures work - in theory and in practice-to an Employment judge. If I did not believe their shortlist procedure raised disturbing issues, I would not have launched this appeal.

Size doesn't matter! If you are willing to donate- not matter how small- you can pride yourself on being part of a growing group who are aware of how injustice negatively impacts upon our society and are prepared to do something to change it.

The irony of the Green's Equalities officer fighting a race discrimination case merely highlights the absurdity of using factors other than a person's ability to make appointments. There are others who have suffered mistreatment, but I am the only one prepared to speak out.

Your continued support will be a great help on this difficult journey.  And remember, discrimination has no place in modern society.
