Lil Baby’s Global is one of my favorite songs. Why? Because he talks about how far he has come in life, the challenges he’s had and the sacrifices he made to get to a place where he can now be global. This is my story.
My name is Rashaad Perry and this fall I will be a freshman at Xavier University in Louisiana. I am majoring in the dual degree computer engineering program with a a pre-medicine minor. My ultimate goal is to attend medical school to become a surgeon. I am excited about this new journey in my life.
This summer I have a great opportunity as an incoming freshman to participate in a study abroad program in Cuba. From July 20- August 10, 2019, I will be in Havana Cuba in an educational program where I will learn Spanish and experience the rich African and European culture of Cuba with other incoming Xavier freshmen. The trip will include specialized lectures and guided tours, visits to Casa de Africa, San Jose Market and other places in Havana as well as a trip to Matanzas.
However, I need your help to make this dream a reality. Every donation is appreciated and will go directly to Xavier to pay for the trip. I promise you won’t regret investing in me. I look forward to giving back to my community and sharing about my experience when I return.
