Chapman Vasquez Family

I am reaching out to you for help. A dear friend of mine, Raquel Chapman Vasquez passed away unexpectedly Friday night at the age of 42.

She leaves behind her husband Oscar Vasquez, San Clemente  HS Graduate 1993 and Three beautiful daughters, Vanessa (18), Briana (16) and Chanel (15).

Raquel was a beautiful soul inside and out. She did EVERYTHING for her girls. She was at every one of their games or swim meets, unless she was sick. Raquel suffered with Lupus, Congestive heart failure as well as many other ailments over the past several years. She was often in pain, but would never let you know it, she never wanted to be a burden and she always wanted to know how you were doing, she never wanted to talk about herself.

This is one of the most Selfless families I have ever met. Thankfully Briana and my daughter Kaylee became instant friends Freshman year, they called themselves sisters and Vanessa and Chanel quickly joined in, with all 3 of Raquels girls calling me mom whenever they see me, call me or send me text messages. The relationship our daughters have is how I got to know Raquel and she loved her daughters more than life itself.

Due to all of Raquel's medical problems, this family suffers financially. Her husband Oscar works 2 full time jobs to help pay for all of the medication that she had to take, she told me just last month that they had put her on another new medication and that she was up to 36 pills a day. As you know, insurance doesn’t cover all of it and their out of pocket expense was outrageous. Because every penny went to pay for Raquel's care, there isn't a lot of money left over.

I am trying to raise money to help this family financially, with the funeral/memorial expenses and thier every day expenses. Raquel's sister Nicole just passed away less than a year ago from Cancer and this family now has to bury another loved one and they are devastated as I'm sure you could imagine.

I would LOVE to raise enough money to get them a new car. Something used, reliable, gas efficient, 4 door and practical.

With Raquel gone, the burden of getting the girls back and forth to school and work will fall onto Oscar or Vanessa. Vanessa is now a Freshman at Saddleback College and I don't want her to give up her schooling to carpool her sisters around. And I don't want Oscar to worry about who's picking up his girls and taking them where they need to go, when he's supposed to be working. Briana is 16 and has her permit and will be getting her license soon and then she can share the car with Chanel once she gets her license.

I have some Tesoro Aquatics families helping me out with this, several have offered to look over Vanessa's car and make sure that its in good working, reliable order and to help me get the best deal possible on the new (used) car that I want to get for them.

If you feel it in your heart to help this family, I ask that you please donate. No amount is too small. The family has NO IDEA that I'm asking this. I just feel it in my heart that it's the right thing to do to help them. This family will more than appreciate this generous act of kindness and they will pay it forward.

God Bless,
Katie Brown
