Help Me Save My Brooklyn Home

I need to save my home in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. I’m about to lose it.  And I have less than 20 days to do so. Many of you who know me know of the constant racially motivated harassment I’ve received from my neighbors on President St. between Columbia and Van Brunt Sts. in Brooklyn for the last two decades. I am the only African American owner in my condo development and my neighbors let me know it every time I step outside. I'm harassed every day of my life--even when I'm home.  The harassment has made it hard to keep in contact with my colleagues and friends and has hampered my ability to care for my handicapped brother Arthur, who has cerebral palsy and has been paralyzed on his left side since birth. I provide all of his care.  I love living with my brother and don't want to lose him to one of the city's badly run group homes as I go homeless myself. The harassment, which includes late night noise and daily sidewalk stalking, has severely limited my ability to make a living as a journalist. I've even been followed all the way from home here in Brooklyn all the way to press events I attend in Manhattan.   The 76th Precinct is only a few blocks away and I've been a frequent visitor, but police have told me that they are limited in what they can do unless they witness the harassment themselves. I've also been the the Brooklyn DA and written to the State Attorney General with little success. I am now here trying to save my condo, the mortgage of which is fully paid, but due to necessary flood and water damage repairs to my unit and the one below--which I cannot afford--the condo board, comprised of the very same people who have been harassing  me, is trying to take the unit away. All money raised here will go only to repay the condo board for the repairs and to avert the sale of my unit--and to keep my household intact.  Many of you have met me through my professional organizations, including NABJ, NYABJ and SPJ, or have worked with me at the New York Daily News, PC Magazine or know me from the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas or other tech events. I'm embarrassed to have to reach out like this, but now I have little choice. My goal is to  repay all contributors over time.   My need is immediate. Any help is appreciated.
