Randy's Keep Me Off The Streets

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Randy Green. 15 years ago I was assaulted after leaving a memorial for one of my good friends, and a mutual friend was jumped by non invited guests in the parking lot. As a U.S. Army Vet we don't leave our teammates behind, so I intervened as he was being beaten only to have another perp come out of no where and dealt me a severe blow to my head with a steel pipe. I basically saved my friend's life as the bad guys fled the scene. I was in ICU for a week with a subdural hematoma injury. Couldn't smell or taste food for about a year. The small rural hospital that I was taken to had a sanitation problem that led to me contracting the Hep C virus--had it for 14 years! It took it's toll on me mentally and physically. I can say that the virus is now undetectable thanks to the VA. I lost my job 2.5 years ago due to problems with vertigo and dizziness after 15 years on the job. My Ca. State disability ran out last year and my sole income is SSDI which doesn't even pay my rent-let alone any other expenses. The VA has deemed me with a permanent disability which prevents me from working at anything that I have worked at for the last 40 years and at my age(senior citizen)working is a pipe dream. My VA disability kicks in in Jan.2019, but in the meantime(which is only $118 per mo.)I am looking at eviction papers within the next 2 weeks as I am 3 months behind in my rent which is $ 908.00/mo. I can't become homeless with my medical issues-even if I was squared away the street is no place for a Veteran to be! I have 5 doctor visits in the next month and a half. And yes I am grateful for all they do for me, but unfortunately they can't keep me off the streets. I will need these emergency funds within 2 or 3 weeks before the eviction notice. I really don't feel comfortable doing this as I have never had to ask for public assistance, but at this juncture I have no other choice. My future won't be reliant on other public funding as the Ca. State Labor Board is helping me with getting my back pay from my former employer, but that could take 6 more months. Any funding would be greatly appreciated and I will try to thank everyone of you! Everyone out there stay safe and enjoy your lives as time surely flies buy!-THANK-YOU ALL VERY MUCH!!--Randy Green-U.S. Army--USAMU Ft.Benning
