We need your help!
We have been offered a shop for 9 months, which would mean we could run Random
Café on a full time basis.
6 days a week!!

The premises does need some work. So with a little help and some hard work we would
be able to save more food from being thrown into landfill and we would be able to bring
affordable food to so many more people. Too many people in the UK are unable to feed
themselves a nutritious meal - as a - pay as you feel - cafe we are making food accessible
to everyone. The more hours we are open the more food we can rescue. A full time
premises will also mean we could have a full time mini market.

Food is the most incredible resource we must treasure, and we want to empower
everyone to use it in the best way possible!

We cannot fulfill this dream without help. We need money, skills and people (and quite a
bit of elbow grease!) Without this help we cannot make use of this great resource.

If you are, or know someone who is, an electrician, plumber, carpenter or fitter, we need
you!

If you have a company that could donate materials or cupboards, tables etc. we need
you!

Do you know of a restaurant or café that is being refurbished and throwing away
furnishings? We need to hear from you!

We are committed to:

● Educational work with schools and local groups 
● Increasing the volume of food we intercept
● Supporting our community partners
● Creating opportunities for businesses, local people and organisations
● Increasing our outside catering events

Since we started, we have: 

● Rescued and redistributed 29 tonnes of food to our local communities
● Fed over 1400 people in our weekly cafes
● Catered a wedding for 125 guests, an offical opening, an 80 th birthday, a working
lunch, a volunteers' afternoon tea, a canal boat trip and an afternoon tea in
Watford museum.
● Established a core team of nine and over 20 regular volunteers.

What your support can do:

We need your help to raise £10000 to secure and refurbish the building and provide a
premises to teach, feed and grow. Our work over the last two years shows we have
gone from strength to strength and we now want to take the next step.

£10000 would allow us to clean and clear the site, bringing it up to environmental health
standards. We could then fit a full time kitchen to supply a full time cafe. It would enable
us to employ part time staff and run our van full time. We can then campaign for a more
sustainable Watford and a brighter future.

Why is it needed?

Food waste is a global issue that needs direct and urgent action. One third of all food is
wasted globally. In the UK, 2015 WRAP figures show the average family threw away
approx. £470 of edible food every year. Random Café intercepts, stores and
redistributes a small amount of this food. With a full time cafe we can connect with other
towns and cities and intercept so much more.

All food we intercept cannot be resold for logistical, stock management or other reasons
but is still fit for consumption and is handled safely and professionally by our team.

With this project we could rescue food and redistribute to schools (which have limited
catering budgets), community centres, cafes, individuals, and event catering.
