Randolph Co. Election Day Bus Fund

RANDOLPH COUNTY GEORGIA VOTERS NEED YOUR HELP!

Plans have been announced of a decision to close over 75% of the polling places in Randolph, a majority black Georgia county.  I will post a link to the full article below, but to sum things up:

Election officials are planning to suddenly close seven of the county’s nine polling places. Their excuse is that they are not sufficiently accessible to people with disabilities, but the reality is that this is a blatant attempt to suppress black voter turnout in rural Georgia.

Randolph County is more than 60 percent black, and many residents live below the poverty level. According to the Georgia chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union these voters are less likely to own a car and will be required to walk over three hours to one of the two remaining polling locations because there is NO public transportation to get them there. The voter makeup of one of the polling places is 96.7% percent black. The ACLU is filing suit, but we can't sit back and wait for the courts to help. The time to act is now!

This fund will be used to charter buses on election day, November 6, 2018, to assist in transporting residents back and forth to the polls and with voter registration efforts. Please help me make sure that every voice in heard and every vote is counted.

Respectfully,
Cleshia Thomas-Bliss
