Randall Lewis Memorial Fund

On Monday July 17th at 8:59pm Randall Lewis departed this world. He leaves behind his mother, younger brother, and young son. Here is his story, please help if you can.

Randall moved with his family to Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica when he was a young boy from Blue Fields, Nicaragua in search of a better life, a safer life. Puerto Viejo and its beautiful beaches and afro caribbean vibes resembled home in Nicaragua but were safer and offered better financial stability. This tiny town offered a shelter from the violence and poverty many experienced in Nicaragua until Saturday July 15th, 2017 (Randall's birthday) the sensless violence found him.

Randall was working in a bar, where he has worked for years when a fight broke out between two men, one of which was from a neighboring town. While trying to defuse the fight, Randall was shot 3 times. At least one shot went through his femoral artery. Randall was russed to the hospital an hour away and put into a medically induced coma. Doctors performed multiple surgeries to repair the artery. When it was found that there was too much damage, doctors decided the next best thing would be to amputate his leg. With his other organs appearing to be in stable condition, they attempted to bring him out of the: coma. His body went into shock and he passed away at 8:59pm on Monday July 17th, 2017.

Randall was always happy and full of life. He didn't have a malicious bone in his body. He was thoughtful, funny, and quirky. He touched the lives of so many and has been taken way too soon.

My Husband Dennis and I have been close friends of Randall's for the past 10 years. He was one of my husbands closest friends. While we live in Oakland, Ca my husband, Randall and their close group of 5 friends remained in constant contact. We visit multiple times per year and considered him close as family.

We would like to raise these funds to help support his mother and young son for whom he was the  majority provider. While his mother does work, the average person makes $2/hr in Costa Rica and works only 4-6 hours per day. His son can attend public school but that alone will cost $200 per year.

No child deserves to be without their parent. Losing a parent causes unimaginable suffering, please help us keep him from suffering from lack of food and shelter as well.

Please help us keep his son in school and provided with all the necessities he may need including a roof over his head and food in his belly.

An account will be set up in his son's name and his guardian (Mother) will receive a monthly stipend to help cover the child's expenses. We would love to be able to gurantee the child is taken care of until he is 18.

Thank you for your help, support, wishes, postive thoughts, and prayers.
