On Jan. 17, 2017, Randall and Kristi Baronette started a journey that most of us pray we will never know. After months, of oftentimes debilitating symptoms, Randall was finally diagnosed with CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia) and Lymphoma cancers.
These cancers are considered in the treatable category but then he was also diagnosed a month ago with a rare blood disorder called HLH. Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis is a very complex disease that is attacking Randall’s body much like an autoimmune reaction. He is literally fighting with every cell and fiber in his body!
Randall is in a very weakened state due to what all he is fighting, so most of all, the family covets your continuing prayers. But friends also wanted to do something more for this sweet couple as they fight this battle away from their family and church. They are currently beginning their eighth week at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, and they have all the expenses that come with it! Parking, Kristi’s meals, laundry, as well as maintaining their home here in Shreveport. This does not even include the medical bills that are mounting every day. Although they are blessed with insurance, we all know that it doesn’t pay 100%! And the fact that insurance will not cover a treatment drug because it is so expensive eliminates him from receiving this particular treatment.
With the hope that Randall will be coming home to Shreveport very soon to start long term care and rehab, the ambulance ride here and many of the additional costs involving a long term facility, are not covered by their insurance.
Most of you know this couple’s heart and they are the first to do for and give on behalf of others. We ask, as their friends, that you consider helping during this unexpected journey they have encountered.
