Family, Friends, and Community...
Early morning, December 14th, our parents, Sofronio and Aida Ramirez lost the use of their home for the unforeseeable future, and most of their precious belongings to a fire. They are both safe and physically unharmed. Taking in an event of this magnitude can be difficult for our elderly parents. We (family & friends, near and far) are doing our best to support and help them through this. The damages are extensive and our parents will be displaced from their home for some time while we work to rebuild.
As most close family and friends may know, our parents are grandparents to sixteen grandchildren. It goes without saying, they are very active with sharing their personal time with each of them in Illinois, and more recently in Texas. With many families who may have, also, experienced home emergencies or loss, we all rely heavily on what homeowners insurance can do to support and guide us thru an event financially. For Aida and Sofronio, they were always out and about within the community or states, doing their "rounds" of visiting/spending time with each family member. And in doing that, along with other tasks, their homeowners insurance policy became an oversight and lapsed. Both already feel a sense of loss, and now guilt, which is more than enough to try to move past.
We are doing our best, near and far, to help financially get them back on their feet and into their home. It will be a journey to overcome to help move forward past the loss of a home we all grew up in. This is/was our home to spend the Christmas Holidays.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 to help with the living expenses, immediate repairs and costs that insurance would normally cover. Any donation would help and is greatly appreciated.
