Rami Needs Transportation Help
Donation protected
Hola! If you're just meeting me, my name is Rami and I'm a non-binary, chronically ill, Southwest Detroiter working as a Community Organizer for people with disabilities across Michigan.
On the night of December 21st, a driver hit my car while it was parked outside my apartment. It was a hit and run, so I've had to deal with much of the aftermath myself. Unfortunately, my insurance is only helping me by not raising my rate, but that's it. Fixing this pickle is coming straight out of my little pockets--with some help from family.
This is the second time in less than two years that my car is hit by a distracted driver. With all its damages from the last collision and this one, it is cheaper for me to find a used car and scrap this one. My car was barely safe as it was.
I'm fundraising for the down payment on a new vehicle, but also for general funds to get myself around until I can afford a new car. Between catching up on city tax payments, pulling my medical bills out of collections for monthly meds and bloodwork, and using all my savings to move out of my old place away from my abusive ex in June, this accident is really leaving me with few options other than to ask for help.
I'm doing my best to trust my needs and the directions they lead me, so even if I raise $5, I'll know they came from the efforts of my vulnerability and that's a win for me, lol.
Please give what is on your heart and nothing more. It is a financially challenging time for all of us, and that doesn't even scratch the surface. Sharing this fundraiser is just as appreciated as a donation, truly <3
Know that I'm okay, just a little blue about it and broker than I was on the 20th, haha. While this is a heavy financial burden, especially as winter limits my biking/walking, I am ultimately housed, fed, loved, and safe. If you only have a very limited amount of money to give because of the holidays and COVID-19's impact on your life, please consider these other more urgent requests instead:
Healing for a Black trans organizer
Detroit Sex Worker Mutual Aid Fund
Please help trans teen escape fathers sexual abuse (Detroit)
Save My Black Owned Business
Housing Car & School for Queer Detroit Youth
Help a Cosechera rebuild after fighting ICE
All the love and happy holidays,
Rami
