Ramey family Haiti mission trip

The sweet faces in the photo are Carl and Woody at age 7 when I first met them in Haiti in Feb 2010. It seems like another lifetime now that I was traveling back and forth to Haiti. There is so much more to the story of our journey, but to summarize here, I have since been back to Haiti roughly 20 times – to serve, to visit, to bring our children home. Last year Todd and I had the privilege of taking our oldest, Wilnes, to visit his birth family. This year, June 12-19,  I will join Carl and Woody along with their youth group at Journey Church to visit the beautiful village of Ikondo. Not only will we get the honor of working WITH Haitians to create jobs, but my boys will get to see some of their birth family again. I am constantly reminded that Haiti does not need another handout. The people need love, education, and partnership. We need to join others in their fight for survival – not just donate food and our old T-shirts. We must look in their faces, hear their stories, and LOVE them so hard they believe in themselves and their abilities. We all need this. I am so proud of my young men who keep their birth country and family in the hearts and want to go and be part of any kind of change there – big or small. (See their notes at end).

We welcome any way you would like to be part of our trip – thoughtfully, prayerfully, or financially. Donations can be made here on the GoFundMe page, and all money raised will be given to Journey Church Franklin to cover the trip.  We are so thankful for this opportunity to go back to Haiti in a new way – as an adoptive family visiting their birth family and serving alongside other families. We are all connected. One of my favorite songs right now is “Dear Me” by Nichole Nordeman, and I sing over and over the lines “Love, love, love, love like it’s your own blood. Love, love, love, love as you have been loved.” And that is what my heart wants most for my tribe of five – that we will GO and LOVE – here in America, in Haiti, anywhere and anyone without exceptions.   Here is a video that shows more about where we will be serving -

From Carl:

I am excited to go back to Haiti to see my family and to show everyone the beauty that my home country holds for all to enjoy. I am also excited to serve the kids there in ways that I was being served 4 years ago and be able to do it in their own language. AND I’m really excited to get to eat that great Haitian food that I miss so much.

From Woody:

Dear friends,
My name is Woody and I’m 15. This summer, June 12-19, myself and 15 other students and youth leaders have been invited to serve alongside The Hands and Feet Project in Haiti. We are going to have the opportunity to serve the people in Haiti by helping the kids and giving people jobs so they don’t have to starve. I am excited to go because I would have another experience of how to serve in my home country. Another reason is I would get the chance to see my biological family. In order for that to happen I would humbly ask if you would make a donation to this trip.
Thank you!!
