NIGERIA-COVID-19 FOOD RELIEF DRIVE IN RAMADAN

The Ramadan feeding project, Stay Healthy COVID-19 Program by Rafeeqee foundation aims to support the poor by delivering food to people who most need to cater for themselves and families from the threat posed by coronavirus (COVID-19) to have a survival emergency food package again this year Ramadan.

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to disruptions in all of our lives. To stop its spread, the CDC recommends that we practice social distancing  and protect the most vulnerable members of our community - the elderly and the immunocompromised.

We want to ensure the needy, poor, orphans, destitute children mostly abandoned by the wealthy have convenient access to the food they need without risking exposure by delivering them a relief box with fresh produce, canned goods, and other essential resources.


How it works:

1) Rafeeqee foundation is coordinating with local Imam and communities leaders to identify the needy ones, poor, orphans, widows, destitute children in their communities.


2) Teams of healthy volunteers, in groups of less than 10, pack the food relief boxes and deliver them directly to the community pickup location or homes of individuals in need, via "no-contact" drop-offs while maintaining social distancing.

3) Each relief box will contain enough food to last one person for the month of Ramadan  and should entirely replace a trip to the marketplace.

Our team will source for food items and produces in bags and repackage accordingly. Examples of items included in the box are:

Grocery Staples:
-Rice
-Beans
-Garri
-Millet
-Sugar
-Milk
-Milo
-Other Ingredients and items necessary

Each box will cost about $35 to source, pack, and deliver. We hope to help about 5,000 families inSha Allah within the fast approaching month of Ramadan. Any amount of support goes a long way to quenching and battling hunger and putting a smile on the needy people faces.

Why Rafeeqee Foundation:

Rafeeqee has been carrying our Ramadan Food Packs Distribution for a number of years. The states we distribute our Ramadan Food Packs include Lagos states, Ogun States, Oyo States, Osun states, Ondo States, Kaduna, Katsina, Adamawa,  and we are expanding to other states in 2020 inshaaAllah.

So continuing the tradition in  Ramadan 2019, with the help of Allah, Rafeeqee foundation  will be distributing Ramadan Food Packs in various regions in Nigeria this year to the fasting needy Muslims.

Our aim is to reach as many people as we can to share the blessings of Ramadan. Our Ramadan food packs will in sha Allah help families spend their Ramadan without having to worry about the food for Sahoor and Iftar

The food items will be donated to the poor and needy so they can enjoy Ramadan with a meal for suhoor (meal at dawn time) and Iftaar (ritual of breaking fast in evening) as well.



Two years ago we reached about 800 poor and needy families, Last year, we reached out to about 2000 poor and needy Muslim families and this year ‘s Ramadan, we hope to help 5000 Muslims families in Sha Allaah. According to our estimate, a donation of $35 will assist a family of four for 2-4 weeks with a food package. The more charitable donations and generous contributions that we receive from you will help feed many poor families for the entire month in Sha Allah. The beneficiaries are all anticipating that we support them again this year due to their financial instability.
