Ralph's Vet Fund

Ralph McDuff is my beloved Scottish Terrier who has been running retreats with me for many years now. We call him the Zen Master due to his chilled out disposition. He's really a human in scotty clothing and has been my constant companion and best friend for the past 11 years. We live on a tiny island called Bimini in the Bahamas, which has no resident vet, so visits to the vet mean a trip to Florida. Ralph has been sick for the past month, vomiting in the early hours and in the last few days deteriorated into diarrhea and passing blood. So today we got to the vet in Florida to have his blood work tested and got an ultrasound done, which showed raized liver enzymes, high cholesterol and an odd shape to his liver. He has been on an IV drip all day and given meds for the sickness and runs, along with a low fat prescription diet. Ralph has been on a raw diet all his life and been super healthy up until now, but it could be that his love of scavenging for bones and food at the beach, where lots of people leave fried food and bones, has got the better of him. Either way, I could not stand by and not get him seen, but the vet bill came as a huge shock at $960 for his treatment today. On top of that i had flights to get here and back and car hire to get to the vet. Thankfully i have been able to stay with a friend, but the money i had to give the vet was money i had saved for my work visa ($3000) which is due any day now. So i am hoping that those of you who know and love Ralph as much as i do, can help me out of tight spot here. I just hope and pray that these meds help him heal. Thank you for all the love and support you have shared on FB for me and Ralph, we feel you! Ralph is resting now and tomorrow is another day. Its been a stressful time!
