My heart is broken having to tell you about the tragic circumstances about our dear friend Kristina Simcox. Several weeks ago I learned that she was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. Her treatment plan as outlined by her medical team will be tough and arduous, but I know in my heart that if anyone can battle through and overcome this challenge, it is Kristy. The Simcox family has experienced some amazing joys in the past few years, and yet also endured some very difficult challenges in addition to this one. In June they welcomed their second son, Morgan, into this world. Unfortunately Morgan was diagnosed with a duplex kidney and will inevitably have challenges ahead, although at 3 months he is a joy-filled baby boy unaware of the issues within his body.
Kristy and her husband Cole are some of the kindest, loving, genuine people I have ever met, and their compassion for people in need is inspiring. But for a mom, at such a young age, with an amazing young family, to get handed a cancer diagnosis is the worst nightmare imaginable. Yet, it was Kristy’s spirit and humility that inspired me to act and seek out the best way to help. I refuse to let Kristy and the Simcox family walk down this path alone. I have heard stories of and seen firsthand the emotional, physical and monetary toll cancer puts on families, and I am determined to do everything in my power to make sure they are well taken care of.
The road ahead of them is unclear but we are all trusting in God through this journey. The Simcox family’s humility and grace is evident by their reluctance to ask for help, asking only for prayers. Prayers for healing, strength, courage for their family and friends and especially for Kristy.
As many of you know, health insurance only covers so much. I have created this campaign as a place to raise money to help cover the costs of Kristy’s care and I ask for your consideration to help a wonderful family in need. My hope and desire is to allow the family to focus entirely on Kristy’s care and treatment and not have to worry about finances during this time.
I am asking that you donate as much as possible to help Kristy and her family fight and beat cancer. Let’s show Kristy how much her community and friends care about her. No donation is too small to make a difference and all money raised will be given directly to the family to cover the increased financial burden caused by an event of this magnitude.
