Rally for Rich Solomon
Hi all and thanks for visiting this page! This GoFundMe has been started by close friends and relatives of the Solomon family. We wanted to share their story and offer a way for us all to help Rich on his journey to a cancer-free life…
From his wife, Meredith:
“Rich achieved one of his lifelong goals and was accepted into the academy for the Syracuse Police Department on July 9, 2018. We were all so excited for him! His days quickly settled into a routine of early morning workouts, training at the academy, and evenings devoted to me and our two amazing children, Piper, 5, and Lincoln, 3. It finally felt like everything was falling into place for us.
Suddenly, on Monday, Sept. 3, our world was turned upside down. After weeks of non-stop training and pushing himself to the limits, Rich didn’t meet his benchmark running time at the SPD. His superiors noted how hard he’d been working and that it didn’t make sense. Knowing Rich had been in and out of urgent care a few times recently, it was recommended he go get a chest xray to see if he possibly had mono or the flu. 12 days and what seemed like a million tests, procedures, and biopsies later, Rich was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma Nodular Sclerosis.
He has 6 months of chemo ahead of him but we’re all very positive he can beat this! It’s definitely going to be a long road to get there, though. Thank you to everyone who has already been sending thoughts and prayers – so much appreciated… keep ‘em coming! The outpouring of love and support from our friends, family, community, and especially the Syracuse Police Department has been amazing. THANK YOU!! #SolomonStrong”
All of the money raised from this campaign with go to the Solomon family to help with medical costs, gas, groceries, childcare, and anything else the family needs to make the next 6 months and beyond a little easier.
