“Around the globe, park rangers lack the resources they need to combat poaching and other threats to endangered species and landscapes. With your help we can change that.”
I first heard about Rally for Rangers on Adventure Rider Radio (ARR), a favorite podcast of mine that inspires my feet to continue itching when I'm not on the road. Before the particular episode was over, the gears in my head were spinning in overdrive, planning my application to their 2019 Mongolia rally.
Rally for Rangers is a non-profit organization that runs rallies twice a year in different parts of the world. Riders need to apply and be accepted to join one of their trips and are then required to fundraise money to fund their participation. This strategy not only helps promote the organization, it also makes the trips more accessible to a variety of riders with different financial backgrounds. This method of funding trips is a great way to have more people involved with the philanthropic aspect of the organization as a whole. While not everyone in the world rides, there are those who can afford to donate to a good cause and get those warm fuzzies from the comfort of their home.
Their “mission is to protect the world’s special places by empowering rangers around the world with new motorcycles and equipment.” What the participants of the trip do is fundraise money that then covers the purchase of a brand new motorcycle as well as the costs of their in country expenses. The brand new motorcycles are ridden across beautiful, off road regions and delivered to park rangers. These new motorcycles allow the park rangers to successfully and more easily do their job of protecting the wildlife and environment around them.
I was accepted to participate in the 2019 Mongolia Rally for Rangers and am looking for your help to fundraise money for this amazing non-profit. My trip will specifically aim to help park rangers protect snow leopards. I am very grateful for your help in this endeavor!
