Having been born and lived in the Philippines for 39 years, I know how difficult it is to avail of medical treatment when you get sick, especially if you don't have the money. More often than not, you are either too sick before you find out that you have a disease, or it is already in the final stage and you will just lose hope because there are only a few days left to live.

<div>My friend Melchor "JM" is 44 years old. It was January 16, 3:37 am (EST), I felt so sad after reading the message I've received from a social media messenger: "Hello, can you create a fundraiser for me at GoFundMe.com and I will be the beneficiary?" (Translated from Tagalog). GoFundMe is not available in the Philippines.

<div>Three months ago, JM was diagnosed with several infections with a compromised immune system and has to take antibiotics for pneumonia prevention for three months and antibacterials for six months. His blood test is every two weeks to monitor his infections and immune system. And he is continuously losing weight every week due to slow healing.

<div><strong>I have created this fundraiser to ask for your help and generosity so that we would be able to help him live a little longer life.</strong> It is a cliché but "It is still better to give than to receive." No one wanted to be in the situation where he is right now. Now, I am hoping that he will be blessed, with your help. Please be the "giver."

<div><strong>JM desperately needs to undergo surgery for his cysts removal on his back and left leg and will undergo blood transfusion after.</strong> The surgery should be performed as soon as possible to prevent the spread of infection.

<div>All his life, he supported his family financially. Right now, JM is in no capacity to support his own surgery and medical care at this time as health insurance in the Philippines only covers a limited amount per illness and health condition.
