Rally for George

Donation protected
On July 31st 2017 George went Northen Dutchess Hospital to have two tumors removed from his spine. He was supposed to walk out 4 days later.  That didn't happen. The tumors were hard to get to and it was a lengthy surgery. He was in the hospital and rehab for a total of 75 days.  He couldn't move his legs, he couln't stand or walk. He lost all the muscle tone in his legs. He's been fighting and fighting since this happened to him. He started in a wheelchair went to a walker and now arm crutches. He can't walk independently as of yet. It took him 6 months to take a few steps on his own. He is very wobbly and can only take a few steps before holding onto something. He literally has to learn to walk again. They say this is a very long process because his nerves has to regenerate. There's no time table on when this will happen it's just a day by day process.  He will walk again. George is a NYS Correctional officer. He has 24 yrs with corrections.
George has used all his time and is on half pay.  He has to be back to work by July 30th 2018 or they could terminate him.  He needs 9 months before he can retire. He doesn't want to retire. He is trying to fight his way back. He worries about bills. We don't want to lose our house.
George also has prostate cancer. It's a very slow nonaggressive type but his count jumped from 4 to 14. With all these things on his mind, endless doctor appointments and therapy appointments he is trying to stay possitive.
He's very determine. He's been through a lot in the past few months. With continued therapy we believe anything is possible.
