Rally Around Daniel

Donation protected

Anyone who knows Daniel and Marlayna knows that they are humble down to earth people. Because they'd never reach out and ask for help we are reaching out to friends, family, and the community on their behalf. Daniel has been in a very serious accident and he and his wife Marlayna are going to need additional financial support given their extensive medical and travel expenses in the upcoming months. We ask that you please take the time to read their story, send a prayer, and if able provide a monetary donation to help them during their time of need.

November 9th, the morning of Marlayna's birthday, Daniel Davie kissed his wife goodbye and headed from their home in Michigan to enjoy a weekend pursuing his favorite pastime - racing his motorcycle.  He spent two days in the company of track friends at Barber Motorsports in sunny Birmingham,  Alabama. On the last lap of his last day, Daniel lost control of his motorcycle, and his body was slammed against a concrete wall. Immediately after, his motorcycle crashed into him. Daniel was knocked unconcious and sustained serious brain trauma, 11 broken ribs, a separated sacroiliac joint, 4 other pelvic fractures, a collapsed lung and a broken right arm. He was rushed to UAB Hospital just 20 minutes away where he continues to fight for his life with his family by his side.

When not racing nor working on his motorcycle, Daniel is working hard at Stryker Instruments to engineer and produce quality and innovative healthcare equipment for medical providers. He's a tenacious high achiever who loves to make the lives of those around him better any way he can: by doing favors, by sharing his knowledge and skills, by being supportive, and, most of all, by making people laugh and smile via his signature Daniel sense of humor - if you know him, you know his silly meme's.

Marlayna was Daniel's first girlfriend. They were high school sweethearts who met passing by one another while leaving their Math and German classes. What began as just another day in high school has turned into 15 years of adventures and growing up together.

Daniel's family, friends and co-workers miss his fun-loving, playful and silly heart and look forward to the day he wakes up again so that he may begin what will be, as his mother has decreed, "his new favorite hobby: flying toy drones."

Daniel and Marlayna need your financial support as they continue their journey together on the rough road ahead. November 19 marks one week that Daniel remains in a medically induced coma while his lungs work to heal themselves. His body is also fighting an infection of unknown origin. Broken ribs, arm and pelvic fractures are also healing. The possibility of hip surgery remains. Marlayna has lost her income and has, at the same time, incurred the expense of a Birmingham apartment close to the University of Alabama Hospital so she can oversee Daniel's care and provide support. And all these challenges are to be faced 660 miles away from their Kalamazoo home, friends, and family.

Please send prayers and please consider donating in support of Daniel and Marlayna. Marlayna remains hopeful and optimistic that Daniel will make a full recovery, and is working hard to hasten the day they may return to their three furbabies Heidi, Oliver and Gracie, and their family and friends back in Michigan. We can't wait to see them resume their lives--and adventures--together!
