<div>On July 21st, Chris Hersinger received life-changing news: he has a brain tumor.

<div>What followed was a whirlwind of urgent medical care. On July 31st, what should have been a routine MRI ended with Chris in the emergency room and then admitted to the Neurology ICU at Barnes. Just two days later, doctors performed a procedure to relieve the dangerous pressure building in his brain.

<div>After 9 days in the hospital, Chris was transferred to the Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis, where he’s working through extensive therapy to regain strength and independence. Once rehab is complete, he will begin the next phase of his fight—radiation and chemotherapy.

<div>Throughout this journey, Chris will require round-the-clock care. Emily will be by his side every step of the way, but that means she won’t be able to return to work full-time. While disability insurance will cover part of Chris’s income, it won’t be enough to meet their needs during this challenging time.
