Healing and Hope

A letter from his LOVE:

On Friday the 18th my sweet husband was placed in the care of hospice at our home for all his medical needs. We had ONE week FULL of challenges and on Thursday the 24th the love of MY life was forced to surrender in the fight of HIS life and make his way to meet our Lord and Savior. At the tender age of 35, leaving behind his wife and two children.

Justin had extreme difficulty accepting his pending transition. Even though we all knew it was possible (and likely) that cancer would take his life, we were beyond surprised when his battle ended just SEVEN days after being told that he could no longer be treated and only FOUR months after his new diagnosis in May. Justin and I both knew hospice meant that the doctors believed he had only six months or less, however, we were told by hospice that they believed it was closer to a month... so when we hit day seven and he was in his final fight, MY HEART WAS TORN FROM MY CHEST. Justin was able to remain in our home in his own bed, with all of the possible comfort available while MANY people came to show him love and say good-bye. His pain and suffering is complete. He fought his heart out with such grace and dignity.

As we neared the end I worked tirelessly to appropriately prepare our children and did all I could to try to help them say good-bye to each other. Our children were so brave and are truly amazing. Their hearts are broken and cannot understand why God wants them to live without a father, but they are hanging in there like champions. We know our road ahead will be very hard FOR A LONG TIME to come but we are and will continue to be strong together!

We have experienced so much love and support, beyond what anyone could ask for. I am so thankful for all of the love that Justin received during this journey. One blessing in this storm was that he was able to feel loved, hearing and feeling adoration, praise, and admiration from so many. All too often people don’t get to receive this level of adoration until they are gone, but he was blessed to hear it and feel it. He deserved every ounce of it and I am just so thankful for all of those that have joined him in this fight.  HE CERTAINLY HAS MADE HIS MARK IN THIS LIFE AND HIS LEGACY WILL LIVE ON!

As I end this devastating passage, I want to ask for you all to lift us up in prayers. Could you not only lift the four of us up in your prayers, please lift up every heart that is broken from the departure of a sweet, caring, funny, and amazing man named Justin Woods.  Our time here is temporary, but when it is cut shorter than is natural the hurt is tremendous. Please pray for Justin’s peace and passage to his heavenly home. His suffering is over, Praise the Lord, but now the rest of ours truly begins. Instead of giving a request for specific prayers for the rest of us, I want to just ask that you all lift us up individually. As the hurt and changes that are ahead of all of us are greater than can be put into words, a variety of prayers may be best.

We miss you my Love.

We always will.

Rest In Peace Justin.

We Love You more than words and more than numbers, Always and Forever!
