Rakiba Goes To Harvard

Donation protected
I have been accepted to the Post-Secondary Success: In Schools, Communities, and Families Program at Harvard Graduate School of Education. The program will take place at Harvard from 6/24-6/27.
I am blessed with the opportunity to offer my expertise and best practices as well as acquire additional tools in which to utilize when working with young minds.  I will be able to share, collaborate, dialogue and interact with colleagues from various places & spaces throughout the nation. Participating in this program will further facilitate my growth both personally and professionally.
In order to do so I am asking my village for donations. The total cost is $2,250 of tuition and I must remit payment by May 7, 2018.  Any additional donations will go towards my flight and living expenses. Any contributions will be greatly appreciated as I am having difficulty securing funding.
Thank you so very much in advance for helping me to get to and through! This is bigger than me!

Program details:
Post-Secondary Success: In Schools, Communities, and Families will provide a foundation for understanding the arc of post-secondary readiness, including relevant developmental psychology across the K-16 continuum. This program is designed for educators and community-based professionals who want to become more effective at preparing young people for success in college and the workplace. Participants will learn from experts on post-secondary readiness, exploring what postsecondary readiness really looks like, how factors like race, income, and immigration status influence post-secondary opportunity, and how schools and communities can help students develop the skills and support network they need to achieve their long-term goals.

Program Details
This four-day program will help you bridge the gap between research on postsecondary success and your own practice. You will explore the latest research and learn practical strategies for improving post-secondary transitions, including how to leverage families, financial aid resources, and on-campus student support systems. You will have a chance to collaborate with colleagues who are working on similar issues and ample time to reflect on your own practice.

You’ll return home ready to help students make well-informed decisions about their post-secondary plans and to supply them with the support they need to achieve more positive outcomes.

Objectives
Examine the research behind adolescent development and how it applies to preparing students for post-secondary success
Consider the effects of race, family income, disability, and immigration status on post-secondary
