Help Sakshi and her family

Donation protected
Sakshi travelled to Germany in 2021 to pursue her dream of getting a master's in Public Policy, but while returning from her internship on 5th August 2022, she slipped and fell in her apartment building while climbing up to her apartment on the 3rd floor.

She was quickly rushed to the University Clinic Bonn (UKB) after the fall, but it still led to her having a traumatic brain injury, a brain hemorrhage, and a broken right arm.

The doctors performed a craniotomy (pressure reduction in her skull) upon her arrival.

Sakshi slid into a coma post-operation and was kept intubated in ICU for almost a month. The doctors also performed another surgery to align her broken arm and monitored her until she finally gained consciousness on 5th September 2022.

After keeping her under observation and seeing her quickly recover, on 6th October 2022, doctors gave her the go-ahead to be taken to a rehab centre where she could regain her physical and cognitive strength.

As she was regaining strength, on 16th October 2022, Sakshi began to feel highly tiresome and slept for 24 hours straight, raising the alarm for the doctors. She was admitted to the ICU at the rehab centre immediately. Two days later, she was rushed to University Clinic Bonn’s ICU due to suddenly induced seizures.

She has remained in University Clinic Bonn’s ICU since.

Although we’ve had financial support to cover her medical expenses from her insurance in Germany, we require support to help the family stay in Germany while her treatment continues and to sustain her treatment once her visa expires and she is back in India.

The funds collected from this page will be used to support her upcoming treatments and for her family to join her in Germany and help her heal.

As the lifetime costs for treatment after a traumatic brain injury can be overbearing, we ask for your support to help Sakshi get better and lead a life resembling normalcy.
