We are Kirk and Wendy Freezer, we have been coming to Ayamonte for 15 years and have come to love the town, so this year, we plan to make it our home. The pandemic has been hard on everyone but especially on young people who have struggled with their mental health and families who, more than ever, find they are unable to make ends meet. Now we have an exciting opportunity to raise money to help young people with mental health problems and those struggling to get by in this wonderful town by walking the Camino de Santiago!

Somos Kirk y Wendy Freezer, llevamos 15 años visitando Ayamonte y tanto nos hemos enamorado del pueblo, este año hemos decidido quedarnos aquí definitivamente. Los últimos dos años de pandemia han sido muy duro para todos, sobre todo para los jóvenes que lo han pasado muy mal con respecto a la salud mental. También para familias ayamontinas, ha sido cada vez más difícil llegar a fin de mes. Ahora es con mucha ilusión que tenemos la oportunidad de recaudar dinero para ayudar a jóvenes con problemas de salud mental y los que lo están pasando mal en esta cuidad maravillosa caminando el Camino de Santiago!

Cyder Cup Charity

As a keen golfer, Kirk participated in the 2021 Cyder Cup tournament, played since 2006. Last year the tournament realised its ambition to support local charities raising over 1600 Euros.

This year the Cyder Cup will be supporting two local charities, ASPREATO and ADACEM.

Cyder Cup Organización Benéfica

Apasionado por el golf, Kirk participó en el torneo Copa Cyder 2021, el cual se jugó por la primera vez en 2006. El año pasado el torneo se hizo realidad una ambición largamente acariciada: apoyar a las organizaciones benéficas locales, recaudando más de 1645 euros.

Este año la Copa Cyder apoyará a dos organizaciones benéficas locales: ASPREATO y ADACEM.

ASPREATO has been operating in Ayamonte since 1988. It is a Non-Profit Association working closely with local families with difficulties to improve their quality of life across the entire social sphere. The Cyder Cup money is used specifically to give practical help and support for the children of these families.

ASPREATO lleva funcionando en Ayamonte desde 1988. Es una Asociación sin ánimo de lucro que trabaja estrechamente con las familias locales con dificultades para mejorar su calidad de vida en todo el ámbito social. Eldinero de la Copa Cyder se utiliza específicamente para dar ayuda práctica y apoyo a los niños de estas familias.

ADACEM is a mental health association that has been working in Ayamonte for 14 years. It offers a range of activities to help people build social relationships and overcome the stigma attached to mental illness. They also advise and support local family members.

ADACEM es una asociación de salud mental que lleva 14 años trabajando en Ayamonte. Ofrece una serie de actividades para ayudar a las personas a establecer relaciones sociales y superar el estigma que conlleva la enfermedad mental. También consejan y apoyan a los familiares.

We set off from Ayamonte on 8th May 2022, heading for the Pyrenees, to begin our 780km walk from St Jean Pied de Port in France on 10th May. Walking an average of 23km per day we hope to reach Santiago de Compostela mid June. We will be giving regular updates on our progress as we complete each stage via Facebook and Strava. Please dig deep, any donation large or small will be received with huge gratitude and be put to fantastic use by these very deserving charities who are striving to improve the lives of the young people of Ayamonte.

Nos marchamos de Ayamonte el 8 mayo 2022, con rumbo a los Pireneos, para empezar la primera etapa del camino desde St Jean Pied de Port el 10 mayo. Andando una media de 23km por día , esperamos llegar a Santiago de Compostela mi junio. Estaremos dando actualizaciones períodicas del progreso por Facebook y Strava. Por favor, dona lo que puedas, para esas causas tan dignas cuyo objetivo es mejorar la vida de los jóvenes de este pueblo maravilloso.
