Hi friends and family,
My name is Idil and I am fundraising on behalf of children in need from the Somali Regional State in Ethiopia, also called Somali Galbeed.
The region has suffered decades of war resulting in inadequate infrastructure and limited educational and career opportunities for multiple generations. In 2022, more than 24 million struggling people were affected by a severe drought and are currently enduring high levels of food insecurity. With limited humanitarian access to the region, the unfortunate reality is that people are left to starve to death.
The raised funds will go towards:
- Sponsoring orphans
- Educational scholarships
- Clothing and food for children in low or no-income families
The raised funds will be divided amongst orphans and disadvantaged children displaced due to war or the recent drought and subsequent famine. Any additional funds raised will be donated to schools to fund a child’s education.
Please note this fundraiser is not suitable for zakah contributions as gofundme automatically deducts a small percentage from each donation. However, any transfer fees will be personally covered by myself.
Costs:
- £360 ($450) to sponsor an orphan’s education, housing, food, clothing and healthcare for a year.
- £120 ($150) to sponsor a child’s education for a year.
- £50 ($60) to give a child an Eid gift.
