Raising funds for disadvantaged students to visit Spain

Hi,
My name is Priya, I'm a Spanish teacher at a school in Preston, Lancashire and I am setting up a personal GoFundMe page, as we can't set up a school page.
*** All funds raised will be transferred from my bank account to the schools account to go towards the trip and I will show evidence of this***
I am fundraising in school, my list of ideas is huge and will be starting shortly in school, but I wanted to share this, in case anyone wants to help support a student in going to Spain in any way. The majority of our students are disadvantaged and my goal is to get as many as I can to visit Valencia to meet their pen pals.
The reason this is important to me is because everyone should have the opportunity to build their cultural capital, especially when they may not otherwise get the chance. This will also help to spark a love of learning languages.
Any support/donations at all would help us to achieve our goal to send as many disadvantaged students to Spain.
The details:
What? Trip to Valencia, Spain.
Who? Year 7 and year 8 students – Around 40 places in total.
When? May 2026.
Why? The Spanish department have a connection to a school in Valencia. Our students and theirs have been sending each other pen pal letters.
Other reasons for the trip:
- to help create lifelong friendships
- broaden their minds in allowing them to experience life in another country
- gain experience of what it is like in a private, Spanish school
- practice their Spanish speaking skills
- experience some Spanish culture
- increase our GCSE Spanish uptake to create more linguists in Preston
The goal:
To fund as many disadvantaged students to go to Spain as possible.
