Raising funds for Cancer Research UK

Leah has published her new children's book, 'Making a Splash'. All net proceeds will be going to Cancer Research UK. 

 

The book is an inspiring and motivating story written by Cancer Research Ambassador, Leah Chowdhry. She tells the story of swimming the English channel, with the message for young readers that they too, can accomplish anything they put their mind to. The books focuses on developing an 'I Can' attitude and the importance of giving back to society. 

 

At just 26 years old, Leah was the first British Asian women to swim the channel, an incredible feat that involved 14 hours, 44 min of non-stop swimming. Only 1,497 swimmers have completed a solo swim; in fact, more people have climbed Mount Everest. Most successful swimmers are male, and the average age is 35. She defied the odds on grounds of gender, age and ethnicity.

 

Leah has a very personal connection with the charity, as her father was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia in 2016. Though an incurable condition, treatment is constantly advancing due to the amazing work CRUK does.

Leah's aim is to raise £50,000 exclusively for CRUK for children and young people. 

My name is Leah Chowdhry, I live in Victoria, London.  I am raising funds for CRUK - my father has cancer and met CRUK through his treatment. The fund raise will go directly to CRUK young people and children division to support research to help treating cancers in young people.
