Raising for Roonan

In 2019, our friend Gabe Roonan was diagnosed with Stage 3 Rectal Cancer that has unfortunately advanced and will require additional procedures.  This will result in a leave of absence from work involving numerous trips to New York for hospital visits, overnight stays, mounting medical bills and a loss of wages. 

Gabe is a father of 2 young children (Declan 12, and Delaney 9). He is married to Melissa Roonan a 3rd grade elementary school teacher in the Toms River School District. Gabe has taught at East Dover, Walnut and is currently teaching 7th grade at Intermediate East. Anyone who has ever met Gabe understands his dedication and love to his family, career and  community.

Throughout the last couple rounds of treatment, Gabe could still be found working, coaching football and attending all of his children's extracurricular activities. However, they received unexpected news that his future treatments will require a more invasive and extensive treatments. This will require to take an unpaid leave from work while recovering from his battle.

Our hope for this campaign is to help with growing expenses that will start to add up quickly as they transition to one income and try to keep things as normal and consistent as possible for their family. Melissa will continue to need extra support to be able to care for Gabe during this time, her 2 active children as well as continue to work herself.
