Raising for Rene (Hurricane Irma)

Hurricane Irma has devastated the lives of many. The graphic images on tv have been heart wrenching to say the least, but when it's one of your own and the pictures aren't just on tv they're on your Facebook feed and in your texts you can't just sit and do nothing.
Rene is the childhood friend of my husband and is like family to us. He lived in his houseboat in the Florida Keys that was completely destroyed by Hurricane Irma. Determined to stay behind and be there for his community Rene had us all very worried, but finally decided to evacuate at the last minute. During the storm all his posts on social media were about getting back there to help people, asking to collect unused supplies to bring with him when he returned. He receive the devastating news in the early morning after Irma came through. His beloved houseboat he was renting to own had been completely flattened and partially sunk. He could have been killed if he stayed to help the people he loved so much. We are so thankful Rene chose to evacuate. His home is gone, but he is not. His happiness spot that created so many beautiful memories is lost forever. It is our turn to help him rebuild his life. Rene was renting and has already applied for FEMA for housing, but he's lost everything inside his home. Being in Tampa we are too far to literally lend a physical hand. Rene will use the money to replace the necessities such as securing a place to live and furniture which is especially important because he has two sons who visit often! He will have direct access to the money or I will wire it to him directly. He would never ask for a penny from anyone (in fact he's probably going to be mad at me for even posting, but I'll take the risk) and he'd definitely give you the shirt off his back so please help me help him rebuild his home! Anything helps and I know he's grateful beyond measure.
