Hello Australia and to everyone around the world, reading this page.
My name is Tess, and I am reaching out to you, on behalf of Alison’s (my cousin’s) loving husband and precious daughter, to raise money in aid of her medical bills which include pre-operative, operative and post-operative surgery and care, as a final ray of hope for Alison’s survival.
Prior to being diagnosed with Astrocytoma, Alison made the impossible possible! She was able to touch the hearts of many, imprint her love on others and love unconditionally. We, her family see it, feel it and know it.
Alison was diagnosed with Astrocytoma grade III, located in her frontal lobe of the left hemisphere in June 2018.
Astrocytoma is a rare malignant tumor and the cause is clinically unknown. The disease, according to "https://rarediseases.org" statistics stipulate that 5-8 people per 100,000 patients in the general population, are at risk of developing Astrocytoma. The survival time-frame is anywhere between 12 months to 3 years, pending on the aggressiveness of the tumor.
Alison deteriorated rapidly from the time of diagnosis from being fit, healthy, vibrant and what would seem to be a happy young woman, to January 2019, from which time she was then unable to talk, walk and undertake what we all take for granted.
Alison was admitted to "Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre" in Malta, where she had undergone various tests and treatments, including chemotherapy and radiation. During that time, Alison suffered from cerebral oedema, at which point treatment ceased. Consequently, Alison went into surgery to have a drain tube inserted, in an attempt to relieve the build-up of fluid in her brain.
Due to the interventions and treatment proving unsuccessful, Alison’s final hope is to undergo surgery. Surgery will take place at the “INI” (international neuroscience institute) in Hanover in Germany.
One can only begin to imagine the emotional trauma, compounded with the pressures of the financial costs needed to fund the final phase of Alison’s medical journey.
We not only pray for Alison, but for all patients who have suffered or are suffering from Astrocytoma.
Finally, on behalf of my family, we would like to take this opportunity to thank every single one of you for reading Alison’s story. Any donation of any numeration, big or small, is greatly appreciated.
In gratitude and hope,
Alison's familia <3
