Hello, my name is Jaro; 

I want to study medicine, but I need your support and help to do it. In September I'm going to Argentina to start my medical training:

I'm 19 years old. I'm from Spain

And I want to tell you my storie:

I was born in Madrid but I grew up in Tres Cantos, a small city in north Madrid. I'm the third of four brothers.

When I was a kid I used to dream of being a fire-fighter, a teacher..... or a Doctor.

Later, in High school, my concerns began to turn into commitments: I was a school counsellor for 3 years and vice-president of the youth association of my town. And when my father lost his job, I started working in a pizzeria. Meanwhile, I used to play Rugby and hang out with my friends.

After High school, I began to take charge of my life, I felt the thrill and adventure of freedom beckoning and I started taking decisions, listening to my heart. So I'd decided to come to UK as a volunteer; and then I found Embercombe (www.embercombe.co.uk), and after a few months volunteering at this social enterprise I decided to apply for the
one year apprenticeship programme.

At Embercombe I realized that everything in my life has given me the strength and determination to take the biggest decision of my life, that I have the unconditional support of my family, That I have the opportunity to make a BIG difference in the world. And that it's up to me.

I have a vision of a better world: A world where everybody has the opportunity to follow their dreams and I want to powerfully contribute to this better world. I want to BE the change that I want to see in the world

And now I can say it and I feel it in my soul: I'm going to be a Doctor!

And I'm going to be a Doctor because: It's a real and direct way of making a difference, it is transportable to every corner of our world, and there is a huge need and I love Medicine.

My plan is that In September I finish my apprenticeship in Embercombe and then:

I'm going to go to Argentina, where I'm going to study medicine, (Argentina offer free and quality education to young people worldwide, I have roots in South America and I love their people and their culture). In March I'm going to start a foundation year in the Buenos Aires University (UBA) and I will spend the next 7 years training as a doctor.

In gratitude to the huge generosity of Argentina: I will work with the organization Doctors of the World (Argentina), as a volunteer, at least once a week, during my time as a student. And once I've obtained a medical degree, I will stay in Argentina working for the benefit of society for at least 1 year.

There is a long and difficult road ahead of me, the tuition is free but I have no way to finance many years of accommodation and living costs. And: Studying medicine requires full dedication and commitment, making it impossible for me to work during my study

So I need your help

I need funding to pay: The accommodation and living costs over the 7 year period of my study and the study materials costs.

Help me to become a doctor and to make a difference to many people in need of help

In summary: after finishing my studies, I imagine: Working for the needy, working to improve the community in which I live visiting natural disasters or situations where doctors are urgently needed.

I'm going to be a change maker to create a better world using medicine as my gift.
