My name is Makayla, or Maka as my clients personally like to call me, and I have devoted my life to helping those experiencing homelessness in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside and other poverty-stricken neighborhoods in Vancouver. As a front-line worker for many years, I've witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by individuals in this marginalized community. I've worked tirelessly to provide shelter for fire victims, support those turned away from full shelters during harsh weather, and have personally administered over 900 vials of life-saving naloxone.

Our Streets Speak is a charity that emerged from my personal experiences (both professional and lived experience) and aims to raise funds for essential care bags filled with everyday necessities. These bags are a beacon of hope, helping individuals survive the harsh realities of homelessness and showing them that their lives matter.

Your generous donations will be used to purchase and distribute more care bags, creating a tangible impact in the lives of those who need it most. Each bag contains crucial items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, feminine hygiene products, baby wipes, socks, and more.
